NICOSIA – The Chief of Police has started an inquiry into how the names of witnesses in the Andis Handjicostis murder case were leaked to the media.
Several of the witnesses have complained after their names appeared in some newspapers and the police spokesman made an appeal today for an end to disclosures of this kind.
Police spokesman Michalis Katsounotos agreed that there was a possibility that witnesses could be threatened or come under pressure.
He said that no witnesses has asked for police protection.
