NICOSIA - The University of Cyprus came under fire from politicians yesterday for insisting that students with international qualifications should be admitted this year instead of the compromise deal for 2010.

There was rowdy debate as MPs queued up in the House of Representatives to pour scorn on the university for its controversial stance.

MP unanimously voted in regulations that would allow admissions of students with international qualifications only from the 2010 academic year.
