BRUSSELS - Cypriot MEP Ioannis Kasoulides was elected yesterday (Tuesday) as one of the vice presidents of the European Parliament’s European People’s Party (EPP) Group, the biggest one after this month’s Euro elections.
Kasoulides received the support of 121 MEPs out of the group’s total of 264, according to a press release.
These are from countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Greece.
Talking to CyBC Radio today, Kasouldies said he felt honoured and that he would work hard to push forward the best interests of Cyprus.
Joseph Daul was re-elected as EPP chairman without opposition, while Martin Schulz was re-elected chairman of the PSE (Socialist Group).
