INDIANAPOLIS - Marcos Baghdatis has tumbled out of the Indianapolis Tennis Championships after losing to the American Wayne Odesnik 7-6 (7/5) 1-6 6-4 in over two hours.

Limassol born Baghdatis – who recently battled injury and intense heat to guide Cyprus into the final of the Europa/Africa Division II Davis Cup in September where they will face Finland – had lost the first set in a tight tie break to the Odesnik who is ranked 100 in the ATP rankings.

He stormed his way level in the second set winning 6-1 but was once again let down by his finishing in the final set 6-4.
In other first-round matches, third seed Sam Querrey eased past his French opponent Arnaud Clement 6-3 6-4 to set up a second-round clash with wild card Rajeev Ram while seventh seed Marc Giquel was also a convincing winner in his opening match, the Frenchman beating Ernests Gulbis of Latvia 6-2 6-3.

Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin, the eighth seed, made hard work of his match with American Kevin Kim though, eventually prevailing 2-6 6-4 6-4 while elsewhere Frank Dancevic of Canada was a 6-2 7-6 (7/5) winner over Bobby Reynolds while American John Isner overcame Josselin Ouanna of France 6-1 7-6 (8/6).
