BOLTON  — Bolton defender Gary Cahill may miss the rest of the Premier League season because of a blood clot in his arm.

Cahill was treated in hospital over the weekend to dissolve the clot but needs more treatment.

Manager Owen Coyle says Cahill "wanted to play on Saturday, but we took the decision out of his hands because his well-being is of paramount importance."

Coyle says Cahill will be out for "a number of months," likely ending any chance he had of making England's World Cup squad.
