VASLUI – Omonia have given themselves a mountain to climb ahead of their return leg match against Romanian side Vaslui after slumping to a disappointing 2-0 defeat in the first leg on Thursday night.Cristian Dulca’s side had done their homework on the Nicosia club cancelling out the threat of Stathis Aloneftis while Takis Lemonis’ side were once again horribly exposed for their lack of coordination and defending. Two goals from Zimbabwean attacker Mike Temwanjera on 20 and 55 minutes now means that Omonia have to put three past on Tuesday night in Nicosia to put themselves in the driving seat. Should Omonia concede a goal to them in Nicosia, then they will need to score four times.Despite the defeat, Lemonis was still hopeful that his side was in with a shouting chance. ”It was a result which doesn’t reflect the true image of the game”, commented the Greek coach. “I am pleased with the effort of my players. The important thing was that we didn’t concede goals from organised attacks but rather from mistakes. We have five days to prepare for the return leg and we can overturn this deficit.”
