Commemorating the anniversary  of the fall of the Berlin Wall, "If you fall... " is a theatre performance on 3,5 and 6 November, at Artos Foundation, in Ayii Omologites, Nicosia

"If you fall..." is a performance piece involving dance, speech, as well as music for strings commissioned by the German Cultural Centre, Goethe-Zentrum Nicosia,  and supported by the Embassy of  Germany in Nicosia, the Embassy of Cyprus in Berlin, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Cyprus and the National Theatre Organisation of Cyprus (THOC).

Commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9th 1989, the performance evokes images of the pressure exerted on the individual and society and explores themes of separation, loss, identity, and finally reunification. Using a variety of German and Greek texts speaking of individual grief, remembrance and forgiveness, the performance tries to strike a very personal chord hoping to create a deeper understanding between separated communities.

The fact that this piece is commissioned by the Goethe-Zentrum Nicosia in Cyprus is of particular significance. While shedding light on the past and commemorating this historic and unthinkable moment in German history, it hopes to further nurture a shared desire for human beings to live together in peace  not only in Cyprus and Germany, but around the world.
