PUBLIC

The Greek company PUBLIC was created around three years ago with the aim of combining three types of shops into one, offering electronic equipment, CDs and DVDs and books all in one place. The Cyprus branch opened a year ago in the Mall of Cyprus and is run by manager Andreas Payiasis. The company’s philosophy is for customers to enjoy themselves when visiting the shop and this is promoted by offering listening stations where you can sample the music and areas where you can sit and browse the books to ensure you will leave with the best selection possible.

SOLONEION BOOK CENTRE:

The history of Soloneion book centre dates back to 1939 when it opened under the name Minerva in Ledras street by Sophia and Christodoulos Papadopoulos. One of its main missions even then was to bring English newspapers and books to the island. The bookshop was relocated to the Bridgehouse centre in 1969 and then in 1973 was taken over by Solon Papachristodoulou. Finally, in July 1995, having evolved and grown substantially over the years the bookshop moved to Byzandiou street under its current name. Soloneion book centre is run by a great team of booklovers who work together to offer customers a wide variety of English (and Greek) books.

KYRIAKOU Bookshop Limassol

A second generation bookseller Kyriakos Kyriakou followed in the footsteps of his father, Pavlos Kyriakou who started out as a newsagent in Famagusta back in 1947. By 1974 when the Turkish invasion forced the family out of Famagusta the bookstore had grown considerably and was located in a very large and modern shop. Growing up Kyriakos Kyriakou had spent most of his free time helping out in his father’s shop thus gaining valuable experience for the future. While his father’s shop was lost after the invasion, Kyriakos opened his own bookshop in Limassol in 1978 having also acquired work experience at the prestigious Eleftheroudakis booksellers in Athens. Kyriakou Bookshop is part of the company K. P. Kyriakou (Books-Stationery) Ltd formed in 1979 and offers a rich selection of English and Greek books from many different genres and subjects.
